This gallery is devoted to minerals from some of the many localities, of wordlwide fame or just recently discovered, that are plentiful in this country. Includes classic vanadinites and azurites as well as titanites, prehnites, garnets and many more.

 

WMOR-13/7 - Wulfenite and barite

Mibladen (Morocco)

A cockscomb barite matrix with a good coverage of reddish orange tabular wulfenite crystals to about 0.8 cm. on edge. Color is clearly redder than usual for Mibladen wulfenites. Quite clean of damage with only a minor crystal not complete. Old specimen.

WMOR-13/5 - Wulfenite and dolomite

Touissit (Morocco)

A crystallized mass of tan-colored, saddle-shape dolomite crystals serves as matrix for a number of lustrous, butter-yellow, flat square crystals of wulfenite to 1.2 cm. om edge. They are tabular crystals with the edges bevelled by bypiramids. Some nicks here and there on the wulfenite crystals that do not detract from the general quality of this specimen.

WMOR-10/24 - Vanadinite

Touissit (Morocco)

Matrixless cluster of lustrous tan colored barrel-shaped crystals of vanadinite to about 1.1 cm. long. Quite clean of damage. This kind of vanadinite was widely refered to as "endlichite" in the past and was quite common on the 80's and early 90's, being quite rare on the market nowadays.

Cluster of lustrous "electric"-blue crystals of azurite partly replaced by malachite with just small pieces of matrix attached. Undamaged.

Cluster of lustrous royal-blue crystals of azurite partly replaced by malachite on a little matrix. Some contacting with previous matrix at bottom, otherwise undamaged.

Bou Azzer District (Morocco)

Fan-shaped group of translucent magenta-red crystals of erythrite to about 1 cm. long on a dolomite-rich matrix. There is just a tiny bruising spot (seen at left on bottom left picture), otherwise undamaged with all the terminations in good shape.

WMOR-08/71 - Titanite and orthoclase

Imilchil (Morocco)

Matrixless cluster of blocky orthoclase crystals to about 1.5 cm. acting as matrix for a 0.9-cm. lustrous translucent brown twinned crystal of titanite. There are several tiny transparent hexagonal crystals of probably apatite. Undamaged.

Lustrous translucent brown untwinned crystals of titanite to about 1.5 cm. across on a matrix of altered pyroxene crystals. Undamaged.

A lustrous olive-green trapezohedral 0.8-cm. crystal of andradite on a matrix of mainly calcite/andradite. The main crystal is undamaged.

A limonite/azurite matrix with two vugs (2x1 and 2x1.5 cm. across) coated by small lustrous transparent (when backlit) royal-blue crystals of azurite to about 4 mm. long. Some of them are not terminated although most are.

A limonite/azurite/malachite matrix with a 3.5x2.5-cm. vug coated by greean malachite replacing previous azurite crystals to about 1 cm. long. There are as well some small lustrous transparent (when backlit) royal-blue crystals of azurite to about 5 mm. long here and there. Some damage to the azurite but not really important.
